Healthy Postures for
Scoliosis Workshop
Applying yoga to
our daily lives
What is “good” posture when one has a
structural imbalance like scoliosis?
In this workshop, we will explore a new
perspective on living with scoliosis. We will
look at how to put our physical and mental body
at ease when we sit, walk, and stand, carry
bags, brush our teeth etc. and learn how to
adapt and work harmoniously with, rather than
against, our given body, through awareness and
understanding the relationship with gravity.
With mindful adjustments to our postures and
daily activities, there might be answers for
those who experience restless sleep and
tiredness on waking, and for those who
experience chronic aches and pains in their
shoulders or back.
To fully benefit
from this workshop, it is recommended that
participants attend the Yoga for Scoliosis
Introduction workshop or a private session with
Adelene prior to this. For all levels,
limited to no more than 18 students.

Yoga for Kyphosis: A Back
Care Workshop
'Hunchback', 'round
back' or 'humpback'…an abnormal forward bend of
the upper spine (thoracic), very much affected
by the sedentary Western lifestyle. Muscles
along the upper back may become chronically
tight, encouraged by collapsed postural habits.
At a physiological level, this disorder may
potentially affect one’s breathing efficiency;
cause unnecessary tension to build up along the
neck and shoulders; and can be a cause of
depression. Those with hyperkyphosis may also
feel the need to take extra deep breaths or may
sigh at frequent intervals.
In this workshop, we will practise various yoga
postures tailored specifically for those with
hyperkyphosis and explore the support of our
lungs and musculoskeletal system in addressing
this issue. Many have experienced how this
practice has freed up embedded tightness,
encouraged fullness of breath, and released
tension along the neck and shoulders. Through
awareness, we will also introduce healthy
postures into our daily life.
For all levels,
suitable for kyphoscoliosis.
Limited to no more than 18 students.

Yoga for Scoliosis: An
Introduction Workshop
An Introduction: Can yoga improve
the condition of scoliosis?
In this workshop we will explore how the
therapeutic effects of yoga can be applied
specifically to the structural imbalances
brought about by scoliosis. This non-invasive
approach to the condition could potentially help
the student to re-map alignment and establish a
new balance while also releasing any
psychological tension to open up a new
perspective on living with scoliosis.
The workshop will offer an insight to your
spinal health, modified practices to improve the
condition of scoliosis and will end with
restorative postures to alleviate symptoms of
discomfort. Using this approach, many people
with scoliosis have discovered a new-found
freedom within themselves.
Not suitable for complete beginners.
Limited to no
more than 18 students.

Yoga for Back Care Courses
Experts now
recognise that the increasingly sedentary lives
that we lead contribute greatly to the back pain
epidemic that is now being experienced in the
Western world. Back pain is one of the most
common medical problems, affecting 8 out of 10
people at some point during their lives. In
these Yoga for Back Care classes, we will
explore the therapeutic aspects of hatha yoga as
a form of healing to our physical, mental and
energetic body. Adelene's teaching focuses on
anatomy and healthy alignment, with an emphasis
on breath and spinal integration within the
body.
This is a series of small group classes (limited
to no more than 10 people), providing individual
attention to each student and the back condition
presented, whether to alleviate symptoms of
discomfort, strengthen the back or simply to
improve posture. In order to benefit fully from
the course, it is suggested to have a one-to-one
private consultation with Adelene prior to the
start of the course.
Each person will be reviewed during the first
class, prior to the practice. During the course
we will also look at how to maintain healthy
postures and how to apply this to our daily
lives. Each class will end with restorative
postures to alleviate any discomfort, promoting
self-repair and healing within systems of our
body.
These classes are suitable for anyone with
scoliosis, kyphosis, lordosis, neck and shoulder
discomfort, lower back pain, sciatica,
sacroiliac instability and general back pain.
For all levels.
